Importing data via CSV on TalentDesk 

Easily import data into TalentDesk using our CSV importer tool saving you and your providers time and effort. This article will cover how to import the following data:

  • Worksheets
  • Skills
  • Team members
  • Projects
  • Tasks
  • Project & Task Assignees


To begin importing your data:

1. Go to Settings > Imports
2. You’ll be taken to the Imports page where you can see a list of previous/current imports
3. To import new data click on the ‘Import’ button in the top right-hand corner

4. You’ll then be asked to select what type of import you’d like to do
5. Select your import type and click ‘Continue’ 


If you selected ‘Team’ as your import type please skip to the Teams section of this article as the following instructions may not apply 


6. Download the CSV template used to import your data and click ‘Continue’

Note: Depending on the type of import you may be asked to select a specific date format at this stage.



7. Please populate the required fields in your chosen template with the data you would like to import 
8. Once you’ve populated the template please save it as a CSV and click ‘Upload template’
9. Once your chosen CSV has been uploaded click ‘Continue’ 


10. You’ll then be taken to the ‘Map fields’ section. Please note that the predefined fields in this section will be different depending on the import type you choose 
11. If you uploaded the TalentDesk CSV template the fields will already be mapped correctly 
12. If you uploaded your own template with your own fields please map the fields accordingly 


13. Once the fields are mapped click on ‘Import’ 
14. Your import will then begin populating the data in the background. You can continue working on TalentDesk while the data is being imported 

As stated earlier in the article each import type will have a different set of fields. Please pay careful attention to the available fields in each 

 

Importing Teams 


When you select the Team import you’ll be asked to follow a similar process to when you’re inviting a provider the standard way. 

First, you’ll choose whether you would like to import Providers or Managers. Please select the correct option and click ‘Continue’. 



You’ll then be asked to select the contract type. Please select either ‘Contractor’ or ‘Employee’ and click ‘Continue’.



You’ll then be taken to the standard invitation details section where you can choose which Custom Message, Onboarding Form, and Legal Documents you want the user to received/complete. Please note Onboarding Forms and Legal Documents are optional. Once you’ve configured the invitation details click ‘Continue’. 


You’ll then be asked to download your template as shown in the steps above. Once completed please download it as a CSV and upload it as explained above. Once you map the fields correctly and click ‘Import’ this will trigger the invites to go out to each of the user email addresses you listed in the import file. If they accept and sign up to TalentDesk the information you included in the import file will auto-populate onto their profiles.
